GREENVILLE, NC- The Greenville-Pitt County Convention & Visitors Bureau (Visit Greenville, NC) is pleased to announce Rachel Whitten’s new title as Vice President of Sales & Services, as well as congratulate her on recently receiving the President’s Award from the Meetings Professionals International - Carolina’s Chapter (MPI-CC).

In her new role, Whitten will create, manage, and implement sales strategies for the Visit Greenville, NC sales team, which works to bring meetings, conventions, reunions, and sports tournaments to Greenville-Pitt County. Whitten will also continue her work as Visit Greenville, NC’s primary contact for convention and meeting planners across the Southeastern United States.

“Rachel does an outstanding job representing Greenville-Pitt County while working with meeting professionals from across the Southeast to solicit, plan, and execute their meetings,” states Andrew Schmidt, President & CEO of Visit Greenville, NC. “I am excited to support Rachel in her new role and look forward to her creative ideas to attract more meetings and events to our destination.”

“I am excited and ready to attack this new role for our CVB and Sports Commission. Living and working in Greenville for 25 years, I have seen the evolution of our city from the front row. The past 4 years, even the not-so-great ones, I have loved being a part of our office and can feel the electricity of our acceleration,” stated Whitten. “What we offer to meetings, conventions, sports tournaments, family reunions, and all other groups is something special, something I am proud to be a part of continuing to cultivate as a leader of our diverse team of talent.”

Rachel was also recently selected by the current MPI-CC President to receive the President’s Award at the 2022-2023 Annual Awards Gala in Raleigh, North Carolina. This award is given at the discretion of the Chapter President to a member who has given 110% to MPI-CC during their membership.

“Brandon Crumpton, the 2022-2023 President of MPI-CC, is someone I admire and have enjoyed working alongside this past year,” stated Whitten. “Supporting him the best I could in my role as VP of Membership Engagement felt very easy and natural, as I felt he was supporting me right back. I am so grateful and overjoyed he chose to share this honor with me.”
