Come meet Scott Dawson, president and founder of the Croatoan Archaeological Society, author, historian and 9th generation native of Hatteras Island, who partnered with Mark Horton of the University of Bristol and a host of scientists from around the world to excavate Native American villages on Hatteras Island. They found over 100,000 artifacts from the Croatoan tribe and the English colony they adopted in 1587.Join us for an interesting and engaging presentation as Dawson shares information about the Hatteras Island digs which have been featured on several networks including HBO, Discovery, PBS and National Geographic. He will also share a new and exciting discovery that was brought to him in April of this year - a written Algonquin language, originating in Ireland, believed to have been created by Manteo, himself!Copies of his book "The Lost Colony and Hatteras Island" will be available for purchase at the event.
