Bayard Wootten (Mary Bayard Morgan Wootten) was a female pioneer in the field of photography. She was successful as a photographer and studio operator from the early 1900s through the early 1950s, when men dominated the field. The library is showcasing two bodies of work by Wootten, "Light & Air" and "The Joy is in the Going". The photographs captures the faces and landscapes of North Carolina as well as South Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama.
