The Greenville-Pitt County Sports Commission (Play Greenville, NC Sports) is excited to announce they have won the bid to host both the US Tennis Association-North Carolina’s Juniors (18 years & under) and Seniors (65+) State Championship tournaments in both 2022 and 2023.

The USTA-NC Juniors State Championships will be held July 15 – 17, 2022 and July 14 – 16, 2023, and the USTA-NC Seniors State Championships will be held May 12 – 15, 2022 and May 11 – 14, 2023. All competitions will be held at over 50 tennis courts at facilities across Greenville-Pitt County.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to welcome both Juniors and Seniors USTA-NC tennis to Pitt County!” stated Gray Williams, Executive Director of the Greenville-Pitt County Sports Commission. “Play Greenville, NC Sports and our partners look forward to providing top-notch service to all athletes and spectators, and hosting a memorable experience for both demographics that will help create unmeasurable exposure to Greenville-Pitt County.”

Each year these tournaments are estimated to bring 1,000 Junior athletes and 500 Senior athletes from across the state, along with supporters and spectators, to Greenville-Pitt County.

The combined total estimated economic impact of these tournaments in 2022 and 2023 will be $1,584,204 benefitting our local Greenville-Pitt County economy and supporting over 600 jobs.
