GREENVILLE, NC- The Greenville-Pitt County Convention & Visitors Bureau (Visit Greenville, NC) is pleased to announce that Rachel Whitten, Director of Sales & Services received several awards at the recent Meeting Professional International- Carolina’s Chapter (MPI-CC) Annual Conference in Cherokee, North Carolina.
Whitten received the 2021 – 2022 Tomorrow’s Leader Award, which is nominated and selected by a committee recognizing an MPI-CC member for their enthusiastic contributions to the chapter, involvement in a committee, and demonstrated leadership ability during their first four years of membership in MPI/MPI-CC.
“I was grateful to be nominated. That alone has brought so much joy to my day. To be presented with the award by my colleagues-turned-friends-and-family, after walking through fire together for the past two years, means more definitively that there is a tomorrow,” stated Rachel Whitten. “The award for Tomorrow's Leader is extra special this year, since we as a group of leaders among leaders, are finally at a place where we can breathe deep again, and start to confidently plan for our tomorrows, together.”
Whitten was also presented the Corey D. Bizzell Award of Excellence by the President of MPI-CC. This award was created in memory of Corey D. Bizzell, a longtime member of MPI-CC, who exemplified excellence and dedication, not only to the chapter, but in every aspect of his life. Bizzell was a constant advocate of elevating the meetings industry to the next level. In honor of his legacy, this award is given to a chapter member who has demonstrated a superior level of excellence, passion, and leadership in their service to MPI-CC.
“I was so humbled when my name was called for this award. The love and enthusiasm I feel for my destination and our industry is authentic and for that to be recognized by the MPI-CC President, Ricardo Hicks, Jr. owner of Tech Factory, is an honor I do not take lightly,” stated Rachel Whitten. “I did not get to opportunity to meet Corey Bizzell, but have had the pleasure of hearing about him from our mutual colleagues in MPI-CC. I will strive to uphold his legacy of being an exceptional human and meetings industry professional as this year’s award winner, and beyond.”
Whitten was also able to receive her 2019 – 2020 Volunteer of the Year Award in person as the annual conference was not held in 2020. This award is given to a member who goes above and beyond as a MPI-CC volunteer.
