GREENVILLE, NC- We are pleased to announce and congratulate Andrew Schmidt, President & CEO of the Greenville-Pitt County Convention & Visitors Bureau (Visit Greenville, NC), on his election to serve as the new President of the North Carolina Sports Association Board for the 2025 to 2026 term.

The North Carolina Sports Association Board (NCSA) advocates for the growth, promotion and enhancement of the general welfare of the sports industry in North Carolina. NCSA brings together sports and hospitality industry representatives who devote time, energy, and resources to the development of sports tourism and related industries for the state of North Carolina.

“I am excited to take on the role of President of the NC Sports Association and work with our many outstanding sports tourism partners across the state,” states Andrew Schmidt, President & CEO of Visit Greenville, NC. “The association will continue its work to make North Carolina and its member destinations the preferred tournament and event sites for rights holders across the county.”

Schmidt was elected chair at the June annual membership meeting, and will serve a one-year term as President from July 2025 to June 2026. He aims to continue the NCSA’s commitment to promote the sports economy of the State of North Carolina and its local communities. Schmidt looks to accomplish and support efforts that increase funding to market the state of North Carolina more aggressively within certain sports tourism target areas along with creating access to state grant tournaments and event funding to more of our mid-size, and smaller destinations. Schmidt is also planning to work with legislative leaders to fund a study to look at the overall impact of amateur sports in North Carolina.

Schmidt was also recently appointed to serve on the board of the North Carolina Travel and Tourism Board in May of 2025 to represent the tourism industry and advocate for the development of travel and engagement with local communities within North Carolina.
