About

Come and groove with us in Greenville and celebrate African-American Music Appreciation Month in June! This annual music festival draws a wonderfully diverse crowd of music lovers of all ages to the heart of the Uptown Greenville District for cool jams, delicious food, and good company! Local jazz legend and East Carolina University School of Music professor Carroll Dashiell brings his Contemporary, Motown, and R&B Classics Music Review to the stage along with a special guest performer every year! Bring your dancing shoes! African-American Music Appreciation Month was originally started in 1979 by President Jimmy Carter and is a celebration of African-American music. Greenville is on the North Carolina African-American Music History Trail and was the home of jazz legend Billy Taylor. Emerge Gallery & Art Center also hosts the African American Music Series on the second Friday of every month from September through May.
